And then remember where he was headed in my post Big Plans? And I didn't like it?
I had decided to take a chance on a bolder color. I realized I was struggling with taking some chances and this little guy was my perfect opportunity to "take the bull by the horns" as they say. I decided on deep blue in gloss. Straight off the shelf at Menards. I considered trying to make my own chalk paint, but didn't know how that would work with a gloss paint, so that will be left for another project. Lord knows I have plenty of those waiting for me!
So, I get out the deep blue paint and after opening the can, well, let's just say, I was underwhelmed. Not the deep blue I was thinking it would be, but more of a "little boy blue".
I decided to not "judge a book by its cover" and put some of this color on the drawer. It's a nice color, don't get me wrong, but definitely not the color I was going for on this piece of furniture. I forgot to take a picture of the blue drawer, but trust me, it wasn't the way to go for this guy.
Okay, so strike 2. I have one left. Better make it count! Back to the
Now on to the good stuff! Here is a peek at the frame of the side table painted in the black. The drawer is getting another application added to it, so I didn't include it yet. :-)
SO much better than the blue!
The hardware needed some sprucing up as well. They are tiny little knobs but I like them. They just needed to be freshened up. I prepared them for painting and gave them new life. There is a really easy way to paint your hardware. I will save the pics for a Tidbit post later in the week, otherwise, this post will be way too long!
The music is ready to be applied.
And here he is all decked out!
I just love him! He looks great next to the sectional in my living room. I will be adding a spray poly to him yet, but couldn't wait to get this post done! :-) Not bad for a $2.00 purchase, paint on hand and sheet music on hand. Actually, he looks even better in person.
Oh! And Mod Podging was so easy! LOVE it! I will be finding more projects for that application. I have a couple of other end tables in the living room that need sprucing up since this little guy is now so dressed up! My daughter said he is classy. (smiles) Soooo?? What do you think??
