Tidbit | Painting Furniture Hardware

When I gave my handsome side table his makeover, I had to do some sprucing up to the hardware as well. There is a really easy way to accomplish this. Luckily, I only had 4 knobs to paint, as the prep work could get to be tedious with lots of knobs and pulls. BUT, the prep work is worth it.

Preparing the knobs for painting: The best way to do this is to "install" them in some cardboard. It will be much easier to explain with pictures. I took a shoe box I had saved and punched holes in the bottom with a screw driver.

Then, I installed the knobs in the holes I made.

This makes so easy to paint all sides of the knobs without getting all full of primer and paint. You can turn the box around and around to reach all sides. Easy peasy! This was the primer...

and here are the painted knobs.
 

This really works slick. If you have a lot of pieces, you can use a larger piece of flat cardboard. Works just as well. All the knobs/pulls will stand up for easy priming and painting.

Here they are installed on the side table.
